Reciprocal Living: Species to Species: Instructions

About the Project

Where are wild animals in human lives and where are humans in their lives? "Reciprocal Living: Species to Species" project aspires to bring a novel awareness to the relationship between human species and nonhuman species in urban area.

As environmental issues become the main subjects in social, political and cultural scenes, studies from different fields point to human practice as both the reason as well as solution to the problem. Urbanisation is thought to have created a big gap between humans and nature, in which nonhuman beings form the majority.

How often does an urbanite bump into a wild animal in the neighbourhood? What is wild? Are the wild animals in city out of place? How closely acquainted are we with one another? What are established human comprehensions of animals and animal understandings of humans?

Shedding light on the understandings of nonhuman animals in humanised space as well as humans in wild space, my endeavour is to justify both physical and mental space for the tuneful coexistence of humans and nonhuman animals in urban area. The project is to raise questions about the orthodox human perception and create a novel contact zone where humans and nonhumans can freshly acquaint with each another.
